The BRAG RC Model Plane Club will be hosting a TRY FLY day for the general public.

If you are interested in learning to fly RC planes, this is your opportunity to see what it is about and have a go.

We will be running future try fly days, if u are interested, contacts us at events @ bawbawrc.com.au and when we get enough numbers we will announce a another try fly day.

Feel free to come down on the day and see what is is all about.

About the event

On the day we will have a flight simulator to teach the basics. Then there is the chance to fly an RC plan with the help of an instructor using the buddy box system.

Flying

Registration opens 9 am.

Flying starts at 9.30 am.

Bookings are required to secure a spot.

There will be 3 sessions every hour starting at 9.30am.

Each session goes for about 50 minutes.

General visitors are welcome.

Flying Sessions

Each session includes some general instructions, safety information, a practice on the simulator, and then learning to fly and RC plane.

Instructors are MAAA certified.

The instructor will hold the main transmitter, and the student will be using the buddy transmitter. The instructor can pass control to the student and take it back at a flick of a switch as required during the instruction.

Entry

Entry and flying sessions are free.

However if you are feeling generous, any donation is kindly appreciated by the club which will help to cover costs and support the club

What to bring

The main things we suggest to bring is sunglasses and a hat.

Dress to suit the weather, and consider sunscreen if appropriate.

Refreshments

There will be a BBQ on the day and cold drinks available.

Sausages $3.00, Hamburgers $5.00, Drinks $2.50

Amenities

There are standard portable toilets on site for your convenience.

It is recommended to bring drinking water or you can purchase water bottles from the club.

Parking

There is parking on site near the field.

Parking is along the north side of the tree line and as signed.

BRAG RC Club Location

Blue Rock Rd, Willow Grove VIC 3825

Turn north on Willow Grove Road at the town of Trafalgar.

You will need to cross the train tracks just prior to this opposite the United petrol station.

Access to the club is through the gate straight ahead at the end of blue Rock Road. DO NOT turn left into the new estate.

Other items of interest

The Willow On Main General Store is located near the turn off to the club, and easy stop on the way in. It is about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the club. Click here for more details.

There is a walking track that connects our club site to the main Willow Grove Park, swim area and boat ramp. It is a nice walk along the shoreline that is about 1.2 km long.

The park area can be seen in the background of the image where the Albatross is making its landing approach. (Right)
